Nellie Wright Edwards, 88, of Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, February 25, 2016. A native of Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Dallas and Annie Bettie Hale Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Lee Edwards; stepson, Charles Edwards; two sisters, Helen Harris and Julia Parker; two brothers, “Choo choo” Wright and Joseph Wright; and a step-granddaughter, Sherree E. Wirtanen.

Nellie was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Roanoke Rapids. She loved to cook and never missed fixing a lemon pound cake for birthdays. She was a friend to so many.

She is survived by her sister, Lorene Lyles of Roanoke Rapids; her stepdaughter, Lou Ann Warren and her husband, Roger of Roanoke Rapids; her stepson, Bobby Edwards and his wife, Debbie of Roanoke Rapids; sister-in-law, Faye Wright of Roanoke Rapids; stepgrandchildren, Roger Warren IV, Eric Warren, Robbin Edwards, Wendell Edwards, Shonda E. Dixon, Bobby Lee Edwards, Jamie Leigh Edwards and Amy VanDam; ten great-stepgrandchildren, and nine great-great-stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. D. A. Leonard officiating.

Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 PM at the church on Monday.
